Sacramento, CA – Fatal Motorcycle Accident on I-80 near Watt Avenue
Sacramento, CA (November 2, 2018) – One person lost their life in a motorcycle crash that occurred early Friday morning on Interstate 80 in Sacramento. The accident transpired at approximately 12:28 am on the eastbound lanes, just west of the Watt Avenue off-ramp.
Officials have confirmed, at least two motorcycles were traveling on Interstate 80 heading east when for reasons that are still unclear, the riders collided into one another. According to the first responders on the scene, paramedics attempted to revive a severely injured victim, but despite rescue efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the crash site. Multiple lanes on Interstate 80 were blocked following the fatal accident as police conducted their investigation. Emergency crews worked to clear debris from the roadway and dispatched tow trucks to remove both motorcycles from the scene. The identities of the victims in this accident have not been made public. Authorities will work to establish the probable cause of this deadly accident.
The California Highway Patrol has assumed authority over this investigation and will release additional details once they become available.
