Sacramento, CA – Motorcyclist Injured after Suspected Hit-and-Run on Southbound Highway 51

Sacramento, CA (July 17, 2018) – The California Highway Patrol reported that a motorcyclist was injured as the result of a suspected hit-and-run that took place on southbound Highway 51 near the J Street off-ramp. The incident occurred around 3:45 PM in the afternoon on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. At this time, authorities have not revealed any detailed information concerning the identities of the motorcycle rider or the suspect driver.

According to the CHP report, an unidentified individual was riding a silver Kawasaki road sport motorcycle down Highway 51 when, for indeterminate reasons, an oncoming vehicle struck the bike. Later, the Sacramento Fire Department and paramedics were dispatched to the crash site and assisted the rider, who was found lying across the center divider. As stated prior, the driver did not stop to help the motorcyclist and left the crash site. CHP added that the suspect may have been driving a gray Toyota Sienna. No further details regarding a potential arrest have been disclosed.

As of now, the investigation is still ongoing. As more evidence begins to surface, more information will be released to public sources.

Sacramento County Personal Injury Lawyer

More often than not, a motorist who leaves the crash site and does not cooperate with law enforcement can face serious charges. Fleeing the scene of an accident is considered a cowardly, criminal act. In this event, the culprit can face severe punishment including charges for a hit-and-run felony.

By law, drivers involved in a crash are required to provide information to law enforcement and comply with regulations. Based on the report, the driver did not stop to help a motorcyclist after the collision on Highway 51.

These circumstances allow the victim of the crash to pursue a personal injury lawsuit against the hit-and-run driver and receive compensation for issues including painful injuries, medical bills, and vehicle insurance.
