Sacramento, CA – Young Woman Dies after Two-Car Collision and Alleged Hit-and-Run along Northbound Highway 160

Sacramento, CA (July 24, 2018) – Local news sources have provided new details about the identity of the young woman who died as a result of an alleged hit-and-run accident along northbound Highway 160 last week. The incident occurred at approximately 2:00 AM in the early morning hours on Saturday, July 21, 2018. As of now, the deceased victim has been identified as 22-year old Sacramento resident Jasmine Turpen. Officials have also revealed the hit-and-run culprit as 24-year old Antelope resident Kamau Ndirangu.

According to local news sources, Turpen was riding a bicycle along Highway 160 at the same time a 2012 Honda Accord driven by Ndirangu approached. At some point, without warning, the Honda plowed into Turpen’s bicycle.

Afterward, rescue crews were dispatched to the crash site and sadly confirmed that Turpen had died from the impact.

Reports confirmed Ndirangu had left the crash site. Later, police officers located and detained the suspect for causing a hit-and-run accident and DUI.

At this time, the investigation is ongoing. As more evidence continues to surface, more information will be released to public sources.
