Sacramento, California – Man Dies after Collision Involving Multiple Vehicles on Folsom Boulevard
Sacramento, California (July 2, 2018) – The California Highway Patrol reported a man died as the result of a collision and suspected hit-and-run accident involving multiple vehicles that took place on Folsom Boulevard near Mayhew Road in Sacramento County. The incident occurred at approximately 11:35 PM at night on July 1, 2018. Authorities have not revealed any detailed information concerning the pedestrian man and the four motorists involved in the crash at this time, given the nature of the case.
As per the CHP report, the man was on Folsom Avenue when, for indeterminate reasons, a vehicle slammed into him before speeding away. After falling into the roadway, two more vehicles plowed into the pedestrian, and both drivers remained at the crash site. Sadly, a fourth vehicle sped down the street, struck the injured man, and also left the scene. Police have speculated that the first impact killed the male pedestrian.
CHP has ruled out drugs or alcohol as possible factors behind the second and third collisions.
For the time being, CHP is supervising the investigation into this tragic, brutal accident.
We extend our deepest condolences and most heartfelt prayers to the family and friends of the pedestrian during this difficult time.
Accident Information
By law, drivers are instructed to decrease speed to give right of way to pedestrians in marked and unmarked crossing zones. Given the circumstances, police have not ruled out a potential culprit behind the crash.
Likewise, hit-and-run incidences are serious offenses. Fleeing the scene of a crash is considered a cowardly, criminal act that can result in severe punishment.
Officials will also consider if drunk driving, drug abuse, negligence, distracted driving, or reckless behavior played any part in the first and third collisions in which the drivers fled the scene. Law enforcement will also determine if the victim had been walking in a marked or unmarked crossing zone.
Depending on the final results of the investigation, the family of the deceased pedestrian will have the right to file wrongful death lawsuits against the guilty party. By seeking legal assistance, these individuals can receive much-needed compensation for a variety of issues including medical bills and tragic loss.
