San Bernardino, CA – Woman Dies in Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident
San Bernardino, CA (December 21, 2018) On the 19th of December, a driver suffered fatal injuries along the 210 Freeway in a hit-and-run accident. According to the reports, a white tractor-trailer veered into the path of a 34-year-old woman driving a jeep along the highway. The female driver smashed on her brakes, which caused her vehicle to overcorrect and roll over. She then crashed into the back of a parked Peterbilt semi-truck. When the paramedics arrived at the scene, the woman had already suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer proceeded to drive off without stopping. The California Highway Patrol is currently searching for the driver responsible.
We send our condolences to the deceased driver’s family as we know it’s always heartbreaking to lose a loved one in a vehicle accident, especially if it could have been avoided.
Vehicle Accidents in California
Studies show that about 5,000 drivers suffer fatal injuries after colliding with semi-trucks every year. The leading cause of most truck accidents is driver’s fatigue, which is why the federal government limits the amount of hours truck drivers are permitted to drive on the road. Because the tractor-trailer veered into the woman’s lane around midnight, it’s likely that the driver fell asleep at the wheel.
Once the police find and arrest the driver responsible for causing this accident, the woman’s family could file a wrongful death lawsuit against the truck driver, the truck company that employed the driver, and possibly the truck manufacturing company.
