San Clemente, CA – Fatal Crash on I-5 Freeway near San Onofre State Beach

San Clemente, CA (August 6, 2018) – According to a local and trustworthy news source in San Diego, a 25-year-old man from San Clemente tragically died after a multi-vehicle collision on the Interstate 5 Freeway near San Onofre State Beach, just a little past Basilone Road. The fatal accident took place in the northbound lanes of the interstate, near the Orange County line around 3:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Reports stated that a 46-year-old man driving in a Nissan Rouge Crashed into a Chevrolet Suburban SUV that had apparently overturned on the freeway just prior. The Suburban had reportedly overturned on the right shoulder of the interstate, and the 25-year-old driver is believed to have been ejected from the vehicle at some point during the accident.

Emergency crews were promptly called to the scene in order to help any victims, but the driver of the Suburban was unresponsive. The young man was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. There was no word as to whether or not the driver of the Rouge suffered any injuries during the accident. A thorough investigation is currently being conducted.
