San Clemente, CA – One Person Injured in Bicycle Accident on Camino Capistrano

San Clemente, CA – (November 17, 2018) – The Orange County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a hit-and-run accident that injured a bicyclist Friday morning in San Clemente. The accident occurred around 11 am on November 16th on Camino Capistrano and El Camino Real.

According to deputies, a BMW sports utility vehicle was traveling southbound on Camino Capistrano when the driver suddenly struck a bicyclist in the roadway. The female motorist failed to stop and render aid to the victim and instead, fled the scene of the accident on foot. Police and paramedics responded to the crash site and eyewitnesses led police to the location of the suspect. Meanwhile, paramedics transported the injured victim to a local hospital for treatment. Officials confirmed the driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run. The current physical condition of the bicyclist was not immediately established.

At this time, the accident is under investigation.
