San Diego, CA – Bicycle and Scooter Violently Collide on Boardwalk in Mission Beach a
San Diego, CA (April 3, 2019) – Yesterday afternoon, police responded to the scene of a bicycle accident that left one person seriously injured in the area of Ocean Front Walk on the boardwalk.
Police arrived at the scene of the accident around 4:30 p.m. in the neighborhood of Mission Beach. They discovered that a 55-year-old man had been riding a bicycle north on the boardwalk when he suddenly collided with a scooter that was being operated by an adult male who was traveling south.
Fire department officials and paramedics responded to the scene, where they found the cyclist mowed down in the roadway due to the accident. He was not moving and was placed in a neck brace prior to transport.  He was then quickly transported to the hospital for treatment of major injuries. However, his name and condition are not known at this time.
The man operating the scooter, identified only as a 27-year-old, was not harmed due to the accident. He stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Authorities continue their investigation into the accident.
