San Diego, CA – Bicyclist Severely Injured after Deadly Collision along Kane Street and Chicago Street in Bay Park
San Diego, CA (August 10, 2018) – The San Diego Police have reported that a bicyclist suffered severe injuries after a deadly collision with a larger vehicle that took place along Kane Street, in the vicinity of Chicago Street, in Bay Park. The accident transpired at approximately 1:45 PM in the afternoon on Thursday, August 9, 2018. At this time, no detailed information concerning the identities of the injured bicyclist and the motorist involved in the crash has been revealed.
According to initial police reports, an unidentified 32-year old man had been riding a bicycle in the Bay Area when he passed through an alleyway at Chicago Street and Moreno Boulevard. At the same time, a 36-year old man was driving a 2017 GMC Denali east along a similar route. Ultimately, as the bicyclist attempted to cross Kane Street, the oncoming GMC plowed into the rider.
Afterward, officials confirmed the bicyclist was transported to a nearby hospital and received treatment for severe injuries sustained during the crash.
The GMC Driver was unharmed.
At this time, the San Diego Police has assumed authority over the ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash.
