San Diego, CA – Highway Patrol Officer Hospitalized After Accident on Interstate 8

San Diego, CA (February 20, 2019) – An officer with the California Highway Patrol was hospitalized following a car accident that took place on Monday afternoon.

Police responded to the accident on Interstate 8 within the area of Mission Gorge Road. They found that a vehicle had been speeding on the interstate when it suddenly lost control around a curve and struck the vehicle with the officer inside.

The unidentified officer has been sitting inside the patrol vehicle at the time. Allegedly, the officer was on duty and at the scene of another crash, providing traffic control.

Paramedics quickly arrived at the scene of the accident to offer assistance and took the officer to the hospital. His condition is not known at this time.

The driver of the sedan that struck the officer’s patrol vehicle stayed at the scene to work with investigators. At this time, the investigation into the accident continues.
