San Diego, CA – Joseph Atkins Identified as One Victim of Hit-and-Run Accident on I-15 Freeway
San Diego, CA (August 4, 2018) – The California Highway Patrol reported a crash on the Interstate 15 Freeway that apparently involved several vehicles on Friday afternoon in San Diego. Reports indicated that the driver who caused the wreck fled the scene in a late model white Toyota. The suspected vehicle was reportedly seen swerving all over the road just before the accident that transpired at around 3:38 p.m.
According to the initial reports, the white Toyota that was seen veering in and out of lanes apparently struck a minivan that was traveling north on the freeway at the time. Emergency personnel was dispatched to the scene immediately after the crash where they assisted the injured parties involved.
Two of the victims, Joseph Atkins and his wife whose name has not been disclosed, were identified by officials as they were urgently rushed to Sharp Memorial Hospital. Their injuries have been classified as minor. No further information has been provided in the way of other victims who may have been injured in the crash. Investigators are treating this accident as a hit-and-run as the whereabouts of the suspect have not been stated. The investigation is actively ongoing at this time.
