San Diego, CA – Man Seriously Injured in Pedestrian Crash on University Avenue

San Diego, CA (February 17, 2019) – An unidentified man was seriously injured in a pedestrian crash that took place on University Avenue. Police say that the accident took place on Friday night, around 11:00 p.m.

The accident took place in the 1000 block of University Avenue, around the area of the 163 Freeway. The pedestrian had been crossing south on the roadway when he was suddenly struck by a Jeep Wrangler being driven by a 22-year-old woman.

The 22-year-old woman allegedly failed to yield to the pedestrian while turning left. The man had been in the crosswalk on University Avenue and had a green pedestrian signal telling him that he could cross.

Various agencies, including paramedics and firefighters, responded to the accident and rendered aid to the pedestrian. He was transported to the hospital and is expected to recover.

At this time, police are cooperating with the driver of the Jeep and their investigation into the accident continues.
