San Diego, CA – Motorcyclist Severely Injured after Collision with U-Haul Truck at Intersection of Friars Road and Gaines Street in Moreno

San Diego, CA (August 17, 2018) – The San Diego Police Department reported that a motorcyclist sustained severe injuries as the result of a collision with a U-Haul truck that occurred at the intersection of Friars Road and Gaines Street in Moreno. The accident transpired at approximately 12:30 PM in the afternoon on Thursday, August 16, 2018. At this time, no detailed information concerning the identities of the people involved in the crash has been revealed.

According to the police report, an unidentified 30-year old man was riding a motorcycle along Friars Road when, for indeterminate reasons, he rear-ended the U-Haul truck at the junction with Gaines. As a result of the impact, the motorcycle burst into flames.

Medical personnel confirmed the motorcyclist sustained severe internal injuries and broken bones. Later, the victim was transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest to receive in-depth treatment.

Officers did not report additional injuries.
