San Diego, CA – Wrong-Way Collision in Midway District at Rosecrans Street and Sports Arena Boulevard
San Diego, CA (July 28, 2018) – A wrong-way driver reportedly caused a collision that injured three people in the Midway District of San Diego, according to the San Diego Police Department. The seriously injurious accident that occurred at the intersection of Rosecrans Street and Sports Arena Boulevard on Saturday morning took place at around 9:40 a.m.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash happened when a 90-year-old man was heading south on Rosecrans Street in a 2004 Toyota Camry. Reports stated that the man drifted into the oncoming lane of traffic, subsequently colliding with a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The Hyundai was being driven by an 87-year-old man at the time of the accident.
The man driving the Toyota was reportedly taken to a local hospital for treatment, along with his 85-year-old passenger. The female passenger sustained a ruptured spleen during the accident while the male driver was admitted with head lacerations. The other driver who was alone in his vehicle was also promptly transported to a nearby hospital with a fractured hip.
The aftermath of the accident reportedly forced the intersection to be shut down for a brief period. There was no more information made available in regards to the cause of this crash or the victims involved. Authorities are currently investigating all aspects of this accident.
