San Diego, California – Homeless Man Dies After Suspected Hit-and-Run on Normal Street
San Diego, California (June 27, 2018) – Local news sources reported that a homeless man was killed in a suspected hit-and-run accident that took place on Normal Street. The incident took place during an undisclosed time in April. Recently, authorities identified the deceased victim as 59-year old Deryck Bacon, a former United State Marine. Meanwhile, police have not revealed detailed information concerning the identity of the female motorist at this time.
Based on the report, Bacon was sleeping on the sidewalk of Normal Street when, without warning, an oncoming vehicle plowed into him. As a result of the impact, Bacon sustained extensive, fatal injuries and later succumbed to the physical trauma. Health reports revealed Bacon had been diagnosed as a schizophrenic two years after the conclusion of his service.
As per the article, the driver did not stop to administer emergency aid to Bacon and sped away. Once authorities located the motorist, she denied having intentionally fled after hitting a person. As she told police, the motorist did not believe Bacon was there and did not realize she had struck him.
As of now, the investigation is ongoing.
We extend our deepest condolences and most loving prayers to the family and friends of Deryck Bacon during this difficult time.
