San Francisco, CA – Motorcycle Rider Struck by Tractor-Trailer on 80 Freeway

San Francisco, CA (August 3, 2018) – According to a report filed by the California Highway Patrol, a motorcyclist sustained serious injuries following a crash with a tractor-trailer and one other vehicle in the westbound lanes of the I-80 Freeway on Friday morning. The major injury crash which transpired nearby the entrance to the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge reportedly occurred at around 7:55 a.m.

The motorcyclist was apparently caught up underneath the tractor-trailer in the center lanes of the freeway, a little east of Fremont Street. A firefighter who was off-duty at the time of the incident stopped to help the injured rider. An ambulance was immediately called to the scene and the victim had to be transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. The number 2 and number 3 lanes of the freeway ended up blocked as a result of the accident and subsequently issued a SigAlert.

No more information has been released at this time as the cause of the accident is unknown. The name and condition of the injured motorcyclist have not been provided. Authorities are currently conducting a thoroughly detailed investigation into this accident.
