San Leandro, California – Vehicle Crashes into Residential Care Facility on Elgin Street
San Leandro, California (July 2, 2018) – Local news sources reported a collision outside a residential care facility took place in the 1100 block of Elgin Street. The incident occurred at roughly 9:45 AM in the morning on Tuesday, July 3, 2018. Authorities have not revealed the name of the driver responsible for the crash or the eight other people involved at this time.
As per the reports, the motorist was driving in an unsafe manner down Elgin Street and was pursued by deputies of the Alameda County sheriff. Despite interventions from law enforcement, the unidentified man did not stop and the pursuit continued at relatively low speeds. Once the driver reached the 1100 block, he drove through an outer wall of a residential care facility.
Officials confirmed eight people were inside the building, and one of these individuals was injured by a collision with the vehicle. Medical personnel has not disclosed the victim’s current physical condition.
Investigators were convinced the male driver was mentally unstable and may have been attempting to commit suicide by crashing into the wall.
