Santa Ana, CA – 5 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Accident on North Euclid Street
Santa Ana, CA (February 28, 2019) – On the 27th of February, a multi-vehicle accident happened just after 4:10 a.m. at the intersection of North Euclid Street and 17th Street/Westminister Avenue.
According to the reports, police officers attempted to stop a vehicle who was violating traffic laws, when the driver, 31-year-old Luis Enrique Ortiz, failed to abide and proceeded to speed off toward Garden Grove. Ortiz ran a red light and ended up crashing into a vehicle that contained four occupants.
When the paramedics arrived, they found the driver of the victim vehicle, a 40-year-old woman, suffering from several broken bones and head trauma. They transported her to a nearby hospital, where she was placed in the intensive care unit in critical condition. Her three passengers, two males and one female, were also injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment. Ortiz himself suffered traumatic injuries and was transported to a hospital for further treatment as well.
The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating this accident, but they did find drug paraphernalia in Ortiz’s vehicle and is expected to charge him for evading an officer and causing injury, along with other violations.
We are very sorry to hear that five people were injured as a result of this destructive accident. We wish them all a full recovery as they begin the healing process.
Vehicle Accidents in California
Over 30% of all vehicle accidents are caused by drivers who are under the influence. When drivers try to operate a vehicle while impaired, they put themselves and others at serious risk of being injured or killed. Drugs and alcohol decrease a driver’s ability to respond to their surroundings and follow traffic laws because their bodies start shutting down. Eventually, they stop possessing self-judgment and become unaware of how fast they’re driving, making them more prone to causing an accident. For those injured in accidents caused by negligent drivers, it’s important that they hire a California personal injury lawyer to help them file personal injury lawsuits.
At Brady Law Group, we have helped thousands of injured victims win their personal injury lawsuits and obtain large settlements to cover medical bills, vehicle damage, emotional distress, loss of wages, and more.
