Santa Ana, CA- Bicyclist Killed In Accident on Standard Ave and First St

Santa Ana, CA (May 7, 2019)- Authorities reported the death of a bicyclist following an accident on Standard Avenue and First Street on Sunday.

The accident occurred when the bicyclist, a man in his 60s, fell from his bike into the traffic lanes of the road at around 8:30 pm. A dark grey Dodge Charger then hit the fallen bicyclist.

When paramedics arrived at the site of the collision, the bicyclist was found prone in the road with bystanders standing near him in hopes of preventing additional vehicle collisions.

After being transported to Orange Country Global Medical Center, the bicyclist died from his injuries.

The Dodge Charger driver remained at the scene of the crash and cooperated with officials. Substances and speed are not believed to be factors in the crash.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
