Motorcycle Accidents in California
Studies show that an average of 4,000 people lose their lives in motorcycle accidents every year in California. The leading cause of most accidents is negligent driving, which includes violating traffic laws, speeding, conversing with passengers, driving impaired, driving under the influence, and more. Anything that takes a driver’s focus off of their surroundings is considered an act of negligence. Unfortunately, drivers don’t usually look out for motorcyclists even though they’re required to by California law. Because motorcycles are smaller than other vehicles, it’s harder for drivers to see them, especially if they’re already not fully focused on the road.
The police are investigating this accident to determine which driver had the right of way and why the responsible driver crashed into the other. Once they conclude their findings, it’s likely that the deceased victim’s family may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit and the injured victim may be able to file a personal injury lawsuit.
