Santa Ana, CA – Serious Head-On Collision At McFadden Ave & Jackson St

Santa Ana, CA (May 18, 2019) – Police released a dash-cam video on Thursday of a serious head-on collision car crash. The crash occurred on Monday afternoon and has left a man in the hospital in critical condition.

California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of this injury accident. According to CHP officers, the crash occurred at the intersection of McFadden Ave and Jackson St just west of the city’s Windsor Village North neighborhood.

The video displays a white Acura and a stake bed truck crashing in the intersection. The truck hit the Acura’s rear driver’s side, causing the driver of the Acura to lose control and fly in the air while nearly flipping on its side. Seconds later, the sedan slammed roof-first into an oncoming semi-truck. This took place near the intersection of McFadden St. and Riverview Market Pl.

Emergency responders were called to the scene to render aid the injured driver. The driver and passenger of both trucks were uninjured, but the driver of the Acura, a young man in his 20s, sustained severe injuries and remains at the hospital.

We send healing thoughts to the injured driver and his family at this time.  Our thoughts are with them all during this difficult time as we hope for a full recovery.

Can a Dash Cam Be Used as Evidence in a Car Accident Case in California?

As technology grows, many gadgets that once seemed like something from the future are now relatively common. For instance, a video camera mounted to a car’s dashboard is a fairly cheap way to check out what is happening on the road around you.

For as little as $50, you can record the highway or even your rearview mirror as you drive. Many of these cameras also offer audio recording and views of multiple angles. So can these dash cams be used in a car accident case?

Dash cams can provide evidence in an accident. If you are driving and someone hits you, there is a good chance you didn’t even see what happened – but the camera did. The camera’s recording can be proof that the other driver was at fault. Just as insurance companies accept pictures from cell phones, data from dash cam videos can back up your claim.

However, the same video that can prove your case could also be used to show you did something wrong. Dash cams can be a distraction, and they may not even be legal in your jurisdiction. Be sure you are complying with the law before you install a dashboard camera.
