Santa Barbara, CA – Vehicle Strikes and Injures 3 Pedestrians at Santa Barbara Intersection
Santa Barbara, CA (January 12, 2019) On the 12th of January, three pedestrians were injured after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Anacapa and Anapamu streets. According to the reports, the vehicle traveled southbound on Anacapa Street and struck the three pedestrians as it tried to turn onto Anapamu Street.
When the paramedics arrived, they found two of the pedestrians suffering from minor injuries but refused to be transported to a nearby hospital. Therefore, they only transported one of the injured victims to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The identities of the three pedestrians have not been released at this time.
The police are currently investigating the accident, but they did cite the driver for failing to yield to pedestrians.
We hope all three injured victims fully recover from their injuries without any complications.
Pedestrian Accidents in California
According to recent studies, almost 60,000 pedestrians are injured every year in California. California laws have been established to protect pedestrians from harm and hopefully decrease the number of annual fatalities and injuries. One of the laws requires all drivers to yield as they approach pedestrians, which the driver in this accident failed to do. Whenever drivers fail to yield, it’s usually due to distracted driving.
The police are currently investigating this accident to determine if negligent driving played a role in this crash. Once the police are done evaluating all possible factors, it’s possible that the three injured victims will be able to file personal injury lawsuits with the help of an attorney.
