Santa Barbara County, CA – Two People Killed in Fatal Crash on US Highway 101

Santa Barbara County, CA (February 1, 2019) – Police reported that two people lost their lives in a fatal crash on US Highway 101, and a third was sent to the hospital with critical injuries. The accident took place yesterday afternoon, January 31.

Police responded to the area around 12:26 p.m. in the area near the Nojoqui Horse Ranch. The accident involves two vehicles. At the time, a 48-year-old woman from Porterville was heading southbound in her Honda Element when the vehicle suddenly hydroplaned on water, putting it directly in the path of a Jeep Cherokee.

The Jeep was driven by a 65-year-old woman from Buellton, who broadsided the Honda. The woman from Porterville and the 75-year-old man in the Jeep lost their lives in this horrific accident. The woman driving the Jeep was hospitalized with critical injuries. She was airlifted to the hospital.

Police are still investigating the circumstances of the accident.
