Santa Clarita, CA- Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Golden Valley Rd. Near CA-14 Off-Ramp

Santa Clarita, CA (April 18, 2019)- The Golden Valley off-ramp at Highway 14 was the scene of a crash on Friday night that left a pedestrian dead.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the crash happened at around 10 pm when a driver struck the pedestrian, a man in his 60s.  According to the CHP’s report, the unidentified pedestrian was seen walking on the shoulder of the road at approximately 9:20 pm. The CHP then received a second call reporting the man walking in the right-hand lane.

Following these reports, a 25-year-old Tustin man driving a 2002 Honda Accord hit the pedestrian after attempting to veer away from the man when he saw him in the road.

The victim passed away at the scene. The driver was subsequently arrested. His charges were not reported and are not known at this time.

Golden Valley Road was closed for officials to begin an investigation into the crash. It was reopened by 11 pm.
