Hit-and-Run Accidents in California
For drivers who commit hit-and-run accidents, the offense, whether a misdemeanor or a felony, will remain on their record for 10 years. Drivers who leave the scene of an accident usually have warrants out for their arrest, lack up-to-date registration or insurance, have an expired license, are in a stolen vehicle, or just fear the consequences of their negligent behavior. No matter one’s intention, it is unacceptable to leave the scene of an accident without identifying oneself and tending to those who have been harmed.
