Santa Cruz, CA – Pedestrian Hit-and-Run at Intersection of Cedar St and Maple St
Santa Cruz, CA (June 7, 2019) – A woman was in critical condition after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Cedar St. and Maple St. The crash took place on Wednesday, June 5th, around the time of 7:12 p.m.
Police state that the 55-year-old woman was found in the middle of the road pinned underneath the car. The driver had left the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
The fire department and paramedics were on the scene to free the woman from underneath the vehicle and to render aid. She was then taken to a local trauma center where she was in critical condition.
The identity of the victim was not released by authorities.
The driver who hit the woman was seen running north toward Cathcart St.
The police detained the suspect along with another man who was the registered owner of the car.
The investigation is still underway.
