Santa Maria, CA. Van and Large Truck Accident on Highway 166

Santa Maria, CA. (July 7, 2018) – A local news source reported an accident that left two people seriously injured on Friday afternoon in the Rockfront Ranch area of Santa Maria. The major injury accident occurred on highway 166 between a van and a large cement truck.

Reportedly, the van that was heading down highway 166 apparently crossed over the center line for reasons that are currently unknown. The van continued in the oncoming lane before slamming head-on into a cement truck. According to the report, an 18-wheel tractor-trailer apparently clipped the back of the cement truck while attempting to change lanes in order to avoid the collision. The van was apparently pushed approximately fifty-eighty feet off the highway.

The driver of the van suffered serious injuries as a Calstar medical helicopter was quickly on the scene. The victim was promptly flown to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment. Additionally, the driver of the cement truck reported moderate injuries as well, and the man was quickly taken to Marian Regional Medical Center.
