Santa Rosa, CA – SMART Train Kills Pedestrian on Hearn Avenue
Santa Rosa, CA – (November 16, 2018) – A person was struck and killed by a SMART train Friday morning in Santa Rosa. The deadly train crash happened at about 5:35 am on Hearn Avenue in the Roseland area of the city.
Officials have confirmed, an unidentified pedestrian was attempting to cross the train tracks on Hearn Avenue when an oncoming SMART train traveling full speed crashed into the victim. Emergency crews rushed to the crash site and attempted to revive the pedestrian, but despite rescue efforts, the victim died at the scene. The name of the deceased has not been released pending identification and notification of family. SMART trains in the area were delayed up to 40 minutes and buses were shuttling passengers between the downtown Santa Rosa station to the Rohnert Park and Cotati stations. Further details were not immediately released and the deadly train accident remains under investigation.
