Santa Rosa, California – Bicyclist Dead after Suspected Hit-and-Run on Stony Point Road

Santa Rosa, California (July 5, 2018) – Local news sources reported a deadly suspected hit-and-run accident took place on Stony Point Road. The incident occurred at approximately 4:40 AM in the early morning hours on Thursday, July 5, 2018. Authorities have identified the deceased victim as 35-year old Lusiano Garcia and one of the suspected culprits as 22-year old Gyvaughn Smith. Officials have not revealed any information concerning the identity of the second hit-and-run driver involved in the crash at this time.

Based on the report, Garcia was riding his bicycle in the area of Stony Point Road to spend some time with his children. Suddenly, for indeterminate reasons, the 44-year old was sideswiped by two oncoming vehicles. Reports confirmed the two drivers did not stay behind to assist the victim and immediately fled the scene. Sources indicate Garcia suffered intense trauma as a result of the impact and later succumbed to his severe injuries. A little while later, authorities arrested Gyvaughn Smith and interred him in a local jail. Smith was taken into custody on several charges including felony hit-and-run, DUI, and driving without a valid driver’s license.
