What To Do After A Fatal Car Wreck In California
Car accidents are a horrific situation, with property damage, major injuries and even death. Also, at least one person is at fault.
While a person is being looked at for medical reasons it is vital that looks out for him or her, documents the scene, gathers evidence about the accident and contacts a lawyer. However, if the person dies, you may need to initiate a wrongful death claim.
A wrongful death claim is possible due to the accident causing the injury that leads to the death of the driver or passenger. Because of the loss, a wrongful death claim may be started against the driver responsible. A surviving family member or dependent can seek this claim. For information and understanding, it is best to contact an attorney that is versed in wrongful death claims.
No matter what incident led to the accident, when a person dies in a vehicle collision, death is the result of the crash. This means someone is liable. Each case is different, however, and factors like high speeds, alcohol or similar issues affect each situation. Always remember a civil suit against the responsible party is separate from any criminal proceedings.
