Signal Hill, CA – 49-Year-Old Man Injured in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident
Signal Hill, CA (Jan 11, 2019) On the 11th of January, a Ford Windstar struck a 49-year-old man at the crossroads of Pacific Coast Highway and Freeman Avenue. The accident happened just after midnight for unknown reasons.
When the paramedics arrived at the scene to help, they found the man suffering from grave injuries and rushed him to Long Beach Memorial Hospital. Medical professionals revealed he is still in critical condition but did not release the type of injuries he is suffering from.
Long Beach police officers found the driver responsible just a few blocks away on Hile Avenue. They arrested the man and took him to jail for felony hit-and-run charges.
Even though the accident happened around midnight, the authorities don’t believe drugs or alcohol were factors in causing this accident.
We are relieved to know that the pedestrian did not lose his life in this accident. We hope he has a full recovery.
Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accidents in California
Recent studies show that most pedestrians are hit and injured by vehicles at intersections than at non-intersections. The leading cause of most pedestrian accidents is distracted or reckless driving, which is also what causes hit-and-run accidents. If a driver knows they were driving reckless or distracted when they hit a pedestrian, they’ll more than likely flee the scene if they don’t want to suffer the consequences of their negligent actions.
Because this was a clear act of negligence, the injured pedestrian could hire a California personal injury attorney to help him file a personal injury lawsuit. It’s important that he seek legal representation immediately so that his case doesn’t get barred.
