Silverado, CA. Fatal Pedestrian Accident Following Solo-Car Crash on Santiago Canyon Road

Silverado, CA. (July 5, 2018) – A 28-year-old man became the victim of a fatal pedestrian accident following a one-car crash on Santiago Canyon Road on July 4. The California Highway Patrol reported that the young man crashed into a tree in the vicinity of Irvine Lake before getting out of his vehicle. After exiting the vehicle, the man was reportedly struck by another vehicle on Santiago Canyon Road, south of Hicks Haul Road.

The unfortunate crash occurred at approximately 12:40 a.m. according to the report. The victim of the crash had apparently been driving north on Santiago Canyon Road when he lost control of his blue 2016 Hyundai Sonata and veered off the road and into a tree for unknown reasons. His vehicle stopped finally came to a rest in the opposing lane of traffic on the west side of the road. Sadly, the man made the decision to get out of his vehicle in the middle of the street. That’s when a silver 2007 Hyundai Elantra reportedly struck the victims’ vehicle, subsequently pushing the Sonata into the man.

Tragically, the young man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident due to his injuries. The driver of the Elantra was unharmed, although a female passenger in that vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. A thorough investigation is currently being conducted to determine liability.
