Solano County, CA – Authorities Identify One Caltrans Worker Injured during Collision on Interstate 80 near Manuel Campos Parkway

Solano County, CA (August 24, 2018) – Recently, local authorities have provided updated information about one of the Caltrans employees who sustained injuries during the accident along Interstate 80, in the vicinity of Manuel Campos Parkway. The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 AM on Tuesday, August 21, 2018. As of today, the victim had been identified as Shannon Evans.

According to the original report from the California Highway Patrol, the Caltrans van was parked on the highway’s shoulder while five employees, including Evans, were removing litter and completing a maintenance check. At some point, a Ford pickup truck veered across the highway and rear-ended the Caltrans van.

Sometime later, medical personnel transported Evans and two other employees to a nearby hospital for treatment. The report confirmed Evans was severely injured in the crash and, as of Thursday, still remained at the hospital. Meanwhile, the other victims received treatment and were discharged.

At the same time, the Ford driver, identified as 32-year old Rio Vista resident Joseph Finney, was brought to a hospital to receive treatment for non-life threatening injuries. CHP officers speculated he may have been driving while distracted.

As of now, the California Highway Patrol is looking into a possible cause of the crash.
