Sonora, CA. 1 Person Injured in Pedestrian Crash at PriceCo Foods Store

Sonora, CA. (July 8, 2018) – A local news source reported that a pedestrian suffered major injuries following a collision in front of a PriceCo Foods grocery store on Sunday. The accident was reported to have occurred at around 11:50 a.m. in front of the Junction Shopping Center located at 13765 Mono Way.

The news article stated that the California Highway Patrol confirmed Derek Sonnenfelt, 33, as the victim of an accident involving a truck in front of the grocery store. Richard Williams, 90, was the driver of the truck who was reportedly pulling into a parking spot in front of the grocery store when he accidentally jumped the curb. Williams proceeded to inadvertently strike Sonnenfelt, subsequently pinning the victim against the concrete building.

Emergency responders immediately arrived on the scene to assist the victim. Sonnenfelt was rescued by officials and reportedly airlifted to Doctor’s Medical Center in Modesto to be treated for serious injuries. The elderly driver of the pickup was apparently unharmed following the crash. The exact condition of the victim has not been made available at this time.
