South Bay, CA – Injuries Reported Following Motor Vehicle Accident on Interstate 5 and Palm Avenue

South Bay, CA (August 19, 2018) – The California Highway Patrol reported an accident involving two vehicles on Sunday morning in South Bay that resulted in at least minor injuries. The crash that occurred on Interstate 5 at Palm Avenue was reported to have taken place at approximately 7:40 a.m.

According to the report that was released by the California Highway Patrol, no more than two vehicles were involved in the collision. The two vehicles that crashed were reported as a minivan and a sedan. Sadly, a dog that had been in the minivan at the time of the accident was ejected from the vehicle due to the impact and died as a result. Furthermore, the minivan proceeded to strike a freeway sign and then caught fire.

Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene to assist any injured individuals. The report indicated that there were minor injuries suffered during the collision as some of the victims were immediately transported to Chula Vista Sharp Hospital to undergo treatment. Several lanes of the freeway were forced to be closed down while crews worked to clear the wreckage.

No further details were provided in the report at this time. Authorities are currently conducting a full investigation into this crash.
