South El Monte, CA – Two Drivers Killed in Fiery Tractor-Trailer Collision on 60 Freeway

South El Monte, CA (September 2, 2018) – A local and reliable news source reported a fiery crash that took the lives of two people Sunday morning, September 2, on the 60 Freeway in South El Monte. The California Highway Patrol stated that the fatal crash took place at approximately 4:30 a.m. near Peck Road.

The report stated that a large commercial tractor-trailer had collided with a vehicle on the 60 Freeway for reasons that have not yet been established. The big rig was reported to have been hauling cantaloupes at the time of the crash and spilled its cargo along the scene as the truck rolled over onto Peck Road because of the impact of the collision. The other vehicle involved immediately burst into flames following the crash.

The California Highway Patrol stated that both drivers involved in the accident were sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Several lanes of the freeway had to be shut down as crews worked to clear the debris and authorities began their investigation into the incident.
