According to the reports, an 18-year-old pedestrian was crossing the street when a vehicle struck her for unknown reasons. Unfortunately, the car proceeded to drive off without stopping. When the paramedics arrived, they found the girl lying in the street with severe injuries. They transported her to San Joaquin General Hospital where she later died. We send our condolences to the deceased woman’s family as we know it’s very hard to lose a loved one in a vehicle accident that possibly could have been avoided. We hope they gain the strength to overcome this heartbreaking time.
Pedestrian Accidents in California
Unfortunately, recent studies revealed that over the past decade, 20 percent of all pedestrian fatalities were caused by hit-and-run accidents. It’s very unfortunate when drivers fail to take responsibility for their actions and leave injured victims suffering in roadways. If drivers would have stayed at the scene and immediately called an ambulance, there’s a chance some people would still be alive today. Most of the time drivers who commit hit-and-run accidents are under the influence, in stolen vehicles, or are criminals on the run.
Once the police capture the driver responsible for this accident, the deceased woman’s family could work with a California wrongful death attorney to file a wrongful death lawsuit.
