Vehicle Accidents in California
Studies show that wrong-way accidents are most likely to occur at night due to fatigue, alcohol consumption, or lack of visibility on the road. Driving fatigued produces similar results as driving impaired. If a driver hasn’t slept more than 18 hours and decides to get behind a wheel, it’s as if they’ve consumed a bunch of alcohol. After a while reaction times slow down, vision may get blurred, and drivers may not be aware of how fast they’re going.
Because this accident happened in the middle of the night, it’s likely that the driver may have been under the influence or fatigued, which may be the reason why they veered into the opposite lanes. The police are currently investigating this accident to determine if any of these factors are true. Once they’re done with their reports, it’s likely that personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits will be filed.
