Tahoe City, CA- Teenager Hits and Injures Bicyclist on Hwy 28
Tahoe City, CA (June 20, 2019)- According to the California Highway Patrol, a bicyclist was severely injured on Tuesday when a 16-year-old driver hit him on Highway 28 near Old Mill Road.
The crash happened at approximately 7:40 am when a Subaru driver hit the bicyclist. According to the teenager Subaru driver, the sun may have been in his eyes, causing him to not see the bicyclist.
The bicyclist was taken by air ambulance to Renown Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
Immediately following the crash, the driver called 911. He cooperated with authorities, who do not believe he was under the influence at the time of the crash. No charges were filed.
The intersection was closed briefly so that authorities could begin an investigation into the crash.
