Three People Injured In DUI Accident On Highway 1
DUI Drive Injures Self, 2 Others in Mendocino Crash
Mendocino, California (June 19, 2018) – Three people were injured in an alleged DUI accident that took place 12:15 PM on Saturday, June 16, 2018. The accident occurred in the Fort Bragg area of Mendocino, California, and news sources indicate the crash occurred on the northbound lane on Highway 1, in the vicinity of Jug Creek Bridge. At present, the identities of the two victims and the alleged DUI driver have not yet been revealed to the public.
According to authorities, the accident occurred when a 64-year old Fort Brag man was driving his car, identified as a 2003 Saturn, in the northbound lane on Highway 1. Shortly before the time of the accident, he proceeded to veer off center and drift into the opposing line of traffic. He then crashed into a Ford vehicle. A 47-year old female Napa resident and a 47-year old male passenger were in the Ford at the time of the collision.
Shortly after the accident, first responders were dispatched to the area and paramedics administered care as police directed traffic around the collision site. Due to the severity of their injuries, the occupants of the Ford were transported to Mendocino Coast District Hospital to receive further treatment for injuries sustained from the crash. The driver of the Saturn was sent to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. Police suspected that the driver may have been intoxicated at the time of the accident, and after the driver was released from the hospital, he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
At present, the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
