Pedestrian Accidents in California
The leading cause of most pedestrian accidents in California is drivers not fully focusing on their surroundings. Drivers are required to be on the lookout for pedestrians even in the most unlikely places. Because California holds the highest pedestrian injury and fatality rates, the government created laws to protect pedestrians’ safety on the roads. Unfortunately, if a driver is speeding, driving under the influence, or using a cell phone, it’s hard for them to fully abide by those laws.
The police are investigating this accident to determine if speed, drugs or alcohol, or cell phone usage was a factor. They’re also inspecting road conditions and mechanical issues to see if these were contributing factors. Once they finish their reports, the injured victim may be able to file a personal injury lawsuit with the help of a California personal injury lawyer.
