Truckee, CA – Fatality Reported in Small Plane Crash by Highway 267
Truckee, CA (July 17, 2018) – A local and dependable news source reported one person dead and two more seriously injured after a small, single-engine plane went down west of Highway 267 in the vicinity of Mercer Flats on Tuesday morning. The deadly accident which ended with the plane crashing into a meadow by the highway reportedly occurred at around 7:40 a.m.
The initial report filed by the Placer County Sheriff’s Office stated that the pilot of the aircraft seemingly had some issues with the plane’s engine soon after taking flight from the Truckee-Tahoe Airport. Reportedly, the pilot was making an attempt to bring the small plane around in order to land back at the airport when it unfortunately crashed. Sadly, one person died at the scene of the accident while two other people who were involved had to be transported to local hospitals for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
There was no more information regarding the events that occurred prior to the plane crash. Likewise, neither the names of the victims nor the specific nature of the injuries that were caused has been made available at this time. The Federal Aviation Administration’s Pacific Division is responsible for conducting the investigation into the crash of this single-engine Navion-B plane.
