Tarun Katara and Son Killed in Seal Beach Car Crash
Seal Beach, CA (June 15, 2018) – Two people were killed in a terrible car accident that took place on Freeway 405 near Seal Beach Boulevard. KTLA have identified the victims as 39-year old Irvine resident Tarun Katara and his 3-year old son. Sources indicate the accident took place at 2:30 PM. Two vehicles were involved. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
According to the Orange County Coroner’s Office, Katara was forced to park his SUV to the side of the road due to a stalled engine. For an undetermined reason, his young son joined him, while his wife and 10-year old daughter stayed inside the vehicle. Then, without warning, another car struck Katara and the boy. Both were killed instantly.
Both Katara’s wife and daughter were rushed to the nearest hospital. The mother has been listed as “stable” while the daughter is in critical condition. The 47-year old female driver who struck Katara and his son has also been listed as stable.

To determine the cause of the crash, officers will inspect the vehicles for any mechanical issues and determine the speed of both drivers. Factors like chemical influence (e.g. drug-alcohol levels) and distracted driving will also be taken into consideration.
