Pedestrian Accidents in California
Unfortunately, pedestrians are injured or killed every day despite California laws protecting their safety. One law requires drivers to either yield or come to a complete stop when they see a pedestrian. Even if the pedestrian is in an unauthorized area, they still have the right of way. Most drivers are too busy on their phones or distracted by other activities instead of focused on their surroundings, which is why they don’t see pedestrians in time before it’s too late.
Once the police finish investigating this accident, Mata-Torres’ family may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit with the help of a California wrongful death attorney, depending on if the driver is deemed fully or partially liable for the accident.
At Brady Law Group, we understand the amount of pain families feel when they lose their loved ones due to negligent driving, which is why we work so hard to ensure they are rightfully compensated for all damages and losses.
