Valley Center, CA – Fatal Crash at Intersection of Valley Center Rd and Lilac Rd
Valley Center, CA (April 1, 2019) – The California Highway Patrol reported that a man was killed in a crash at Valley Center Road and Lilac Road around 7:38 p.m. on Sunday, March 31st. The crash involved a Chevrolet Silverado driving southbound in the first lane of Valley Center Road. A Ford Fusion heading southbound in the second lane hit the Silverado. The cause of the collision is unknown.
The crash caused the Silverado to lose control and swerve off of the road, hitting a fence, going down an embankment, rolling over, and striking a second fence.
The driver of the Silverado, a 52-year-old resident of Escondido, died at the scene of the crash. Their name has not been released, pending family notification. The Ford’s 17-year-old driver and her 16-year-old passenger sustained no injuries in the crash.
Authorities partially closed Valley Center Road’s southbound lanes to begin the investigation, which is ongoing. The lanes were reopened by 9:30 p.m.
The cause of the accident is unknown. The CHP requests that anyone with information about this crash call 856-637-3800.
