Hit-and-Run Accidents in California
Unfortunately, almost one million hit-and-run accidents happen every year in the United States, with the majority of drivers being under the influence or fatigued at the time of the accident. A lot of hit-and-run accidents occur at night because drivers believe they are less likely to get caught after hours when fewer drivers are on the road and fewer witnesses are out. Drivers usually flee the scene of an accident if they are already a wanted criminal or lack a current license, registration, or active insurance. When drivers are caught and arrested for their negligent actions, the consequences are usually worse than if they would have just remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
