Vernalis, CA- Fatal Car Accident on the 5 Fwy Near Westley Rest Area
Vernalis, CA (May 10, 2019)- The California Highway Patrol reported a crash on the 5 Freeway that left a 50-year-old Studio City resident dead. The crash took place close to the Westley Rest Area in Stanislaus County in the northbound lanes of the freeway, at around midnight on Wednesday morning.
CHP officers at the scene discovered two cars, one of which appeared to have been rear-ended. The driver of this vehicle stood beside their car and did not seem to have sustained injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle was found in his car, where he was declared dead due to severe traumatic injuries.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
