Victorville, CA – Second Victim Dies after Violent Two-Vehicle Accident on Hesperia Road
Victorville, CA (August 14, 2018) – Recently, local authorities have announced a passenger had died from traumatic injuries at the hospital following a fatal accident involving two vehicles that ultimately killed one motorist last week along 13000 Hesperia Road. The incident transpired a little after 12:00 AM in the early morning hours on Saturday, August 11, 2018. Authorities have identified the deceased passenger as Damian De Nunno, who had been riding as a passenger in a Scion operated by 28-year old Victorville resident Kainoa Kahai, the driver who died at the crash site. No details about the Chevrolet driver have been revealed at this time.
As revealed by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office, Kahai had been driving a purple 2006 Toyota Scion TC north along Hesperia when, for indeterminate reasons, he swerved the car into the south lanes. Without warning, an oncoming 2001 Chevrolet Suburban plowed into the Toyota.
Sometime later, officials sadly proclaimed Kahai had died at the crash site.
Meanwhile, De Nunno was transported via air ambulance to a nearby trauma center for treatment of major trauma. On Sunday, August 12 at 2:45 AM, De Nunno died from his life-threatening injuries.
The Chevrolet driver was brought to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
At this time, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is still looking into a possible cause for the crash. As more evidence continues to surface, more information will be released to public sources.
We extend our most heartfelt prayers and our deepest condolences to the families and friends of Damian De Nunno and Kainoa Kahai and wish them strength and peace of mind during this difficult, tragic time.
