Walnut Creek, CA- 1 Killed in Crash on I-680 Near North Main St Off-Ramp

Walnut Creek, CA (May 28, 2019)- A 63-year-old San Ramon man was killed in a collision on the 680 Freeway close to the North Main Street off-ramp on Monday at approximately 11:53 am.

The California Highway Patrol reported that a black 1974 Porsche and a black Jeep SUV collided on the freeway. When emergency personnel arrived at the scene, they found the Porsche driver unconscious. He was taken to John Muir Hospital, where he succumbed to his fatal injuries.

Minor injuries were also reported in two people in the Jeep.

The accident caused the closure of three lanes of the freeway until 2 pm.

The CHP noted that substances are not believed to have been factors in the crash.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
