West Covina, CA – Victim of Fatal Crash on 10 Freeway Identified as Irene Aleo
West Covina, CA (August 9, 2018) – A motor vehicle accident that occurred early Thursday morning claimed the life of one person and injured three others on the Interstate 10 Freeway, according to a local and trustworthy news source. The tragic crash was reported to have taken place at around 2:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 9th, and the deceased victim has now been identified as 19-year-old Irene Aleo.
California Highway Patrol stated that a 2015 Hyundai Elantra was traveling in the eastbound lanes of the freeway when it rear-ended a 2014 Toyota Prius. The Toyota came to rest on the right shoulder of the freeway while the Hyundai ended up stopped in the number one lane.
Four occupants of the Hyundai exited the vehicle after the initial accident. Unfortunately, the Hyundai was then struck by a 1999 Toyota Tacoma that pushed the vehicle into the group of four people. Tragically, Aleo was pronounced dead at the scene while a 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman suffered major injuries as a result of the impact. The fourth individual was a 19-year-old man who sustained wounds that were classified as minor.
The driver of the Tacoma and the driver of the Prius were both uninjured in the crash. Authorities are still investigating all the factors pertaining to the events that led to this accident.
